    Ruth-Congratulations on such a great first half! Just to let you know, I wasn’t a DNF, I was a DNS as I was home with a fever. Hope to do it next year. All the best, Jill

    Roger, Gaspard and I had a wonderful time at the race. For a first event the organization and voluteers were fantastic. I see you are planning a 10k as well which is great. If I could suggest the use of paper cups instead of plastic, which are impossible to drink from on the run.Gatoraide will supply them free. Gongrats on an excellant race…

    We would like to share links with your site. We are a non-profit group of runners who share weekly runs from Espresso Post in Collingwood on the trail system.

    i looked at the 2009 results and was suprised to see that no one under 20 participated in the evnet. is that just a coincidence or is there an age limit.
    I’m 16 an i’m always frustrated to find that i can’t participate in events like this because i’m “too young”.

  • Ruth

    Hi Ben;
    We have not closed the event off to those under 16 years of age. But traditionally longer running distances tend to attract the more mature runner, as they do not peak in this event until their late 20′s or early 30′s. But you and your friends are welcome to run in this event.

    Excited to be registered for my first half marathon. :-) Getting it off the before I turn 50 list and looking forward to revisiting my goals for next season. S

    Thank you for a well organized event! I have officially and successfully completed all of my running goals for the 2011 season! Yee haw!! Unofficial time (my watch) 2:15 ish. After a long soak in a hot tub of water, I’m relaxed and satisfied with my performance. I spent an hour driving into the sunrise to get to the Collingwood 1/2 Marathon while I sipped my cup of french vanilla from Timmies. :-) Ironically, I met up with my friend’s daughter who was running the 1/2 as her first race ever! What the hell was she thinking!! lol She should be very proud of herself with a 2:03 (clock time) finish. It took me awhile to get past the wall and as I hit the 10K mark, I heard 1:03 which was right on the mark with where I wanted to be at that distance. I got a right side stitch at the 12K marker that lingered for the duration of the race. I tried stretching it out, breathing it out and walking it out but it persisted. The runners who over took me during my walking time were very supportive. Just when I thought that I’d found a little “booty incentive” to follow… the male runner ahead of me picked up his pace. Nice while it lasted! :-) At the 20K marker, I could feel my calves starting to tighten up and felt the threat of the onset of charlie horse cramps. Stopped to stretch them out before proceeding to the finish line. Entering the Village at Blue Mountain was a welcome sight and so nice to see the streets lined with supportive fans and runners who had completed their race. The best part of my finish was the hug that I received from my friend, Julie who I haven’t seen in years, literally. I need to make changed to that situation and get my butt down to Mildmay to visit her and her husband from time to time. I believe my comment to Julie, as she hugged me was, “What in the hell is so great about this nonsense running?” lol I think its like giving birth, over time, you’ll forget the pain and eventually you’ll think its a good idea to try that distance again. :-) Personally, having babies was easier! lol Pretty much satisfied my need to run this season and not sure what next season will bring at this point but a full marathon really isn’t something that I care to entertain the thought of. Thank you to everyone who has inspired me, supported me and followed me along this season’s journey to challenge myself. Last but not least… Ev told me that the coin I’d find along today’s route, would be a reminder that she was with me in thought. I looked for that coin but be darned… I did not find it! I’m sure that there were severall people sending me good vibes just the same. So proud of my friends who were running the Toronto 1/2 today. Life is really good and the blessings that I’ve received this year have been pretty darn good too. Thanks xo

    What a great day! I was a bit scared last night when I was told I wasn’t actually registered but thanks to Ruth and team things got sorted out and I was good to go this morning. Thanks Ruth for getting to the bottom of that for me. This is a great event. After running the past couple of years in Toronto it was great to take part in a more local, and way more beautiful race! I even set a new PB (2:05 gun time)… I will have to come back next year so I can break 2:00!

    A fantastic venue and great volunteer support combined to make this a superb event. The water stations were frequent and course marking (every km) was very professional. Virtually traffic free roads and trails was appreciated. Finishing corral runner anouncements made everyone feel the thrill of competing in a major event. The waiting family and friends loved to hear that their runner was on the home stretch. Overall a great event. Highly recommended.

    Ruth: It was great chatting with you after the finish.

    My thanks to you and everyone who made the race possible. A great day, with lots of enjoyable small-town feel, and a fun and enjoyable run.

    I love kids ringing cowbells alongside the race.
